This event Landorus was distributed via serial codes personally sent to qualified players in their Pokémon Global Link account, after completing at least five battles during the Pokémon Japan Championships 2016 qualifiers (Japanese: ポケモンジャパンチャンピオンシップス2016 予選) competition from April 28 to May 2, 2016. Eligible players to receive the codes were announced on the Pokémon Global Link on May 18, 2016 and personal notifications were sent starting May 24, 2016. The codes, however, were redeemable from May 24 to June 30, 2016.

This Pokémon is based on the Landorus used by Pokénchi host Hyadain.
