These event Kyogre and Groudon were distributed to Pokémon Sun & Moon players in North America via a serial code given at GameStop (US) and EB Games (Canada) to commemorate The Year of Legendary Pokémon, a celebration of Legendary Pokémon throughout the year of 2018. The serial codes can be used to obtain these Pokémon from August 3-26, 2018.
The event Kyogre could only be received in Pokémon Sun, while it can normally be encountered in the Ultra Space Wilds of Pokémon Ultra Moon. The event Groudon, on the other hand, could only be received in Pokémon Moon, while it can normally be encountered in the Ultra Space Wilds of Pokémon Ultra Sun.
